The All New 2021 Ford Bronco

The New 2021 Ford Bronco

the new 2021 ford bronco

The Bronco exited the market in 1996, after 31 successful years in production. The All New 2021 Bronco returns as a robust vehicle that harkens back to the spirit of the 1966 original—a time when S.U.V.s were as cool as they were practical. If you have nostalgia for the original Bronco, the all-new 2021 Ford Bronco will tug at your heartstrings, but it also strokes the desires of younger drivers. The best part? You can buy one without breaking the bank. The new Bronco will appeal best to drivers who prioritize adventure over all else. If this sounds like you, keep reading to learn more about the return of this off-road legend.

Powerful All-Terrain Performance and Ample Cargo Space

The 2021 Bronco comes standard with a 2.3-liter turbo I-4 engine rated at 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. For drivers who want more power, there's the 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 that offers 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Additional transmission choices include a 10-speed automatic on both engines or a six-speed manual on the 2.3-liter turbo.

All-terrain tires on the Wildtrak and Badlands models aim to improve off-road capability. Additional off-road features include front and rear locking differentials and two types of transfer cases. When the Bronco first debuted in the 60s, it was referred to as a G.O.A.T., meaning "Goes Over Any Terrain." Since then, Ford has trademarked the term and has named its drive modes G.O.A.T. Modes.

There are eight drive modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Sand, Baja, Mud, and Rock Crawl. You can adjust to the Rock Crawl setting to eliminate the guesswork associated with off-roading. To tighten the turning radius, the Ford Bronco has Trail Turn Assist, which drags the inside rear brake. Plus, there's one-pedal driving capability — if you choose the 2.7-liter engine, a select drive mode will automatically hold the brakes as you lift off the accelerator pedal.

Two-Door Bronco

Compared to a Jeep Wrangler, the Bronco two-door is longer and wider. With all seats up, the two-door 2021 Bronco has 23.6 cubic feet of cargo space. Folding those seats down increases its capacity to 58.4 cubic feet.

Four-Door Bronco

If maximum practicality is what you're after, check out the four-door model. It offers 35.6 cubic feet of space with all seats up and a whopping 77.6 cubic feet when the second row is folded down.  When properly equipped, the maximum towing capacity is 3,500 pounds.

Active Safety Features

The new Ford Bronco comes standard with numerous driver-assistance safety features starting with the Big Bend trim (one above the base). These highlights include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and pedestrian detection.

Additional features include automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert. The new Bronco has not been through crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (I.I.H.S.) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Innovative Technology

Standard on the 2021 Bronco is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility with a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen. There's a 12.0-inch touchscreen available, as well as a 6.5-inch instrument cluster display that sits behind the steering wheel.

The 12.0-inch touchscreen is the largest screen you can get anywhere in the Bronco's class. It also offers a 360-degree camera with off-road spotter views and over-the-air updates and FordPass smartphone app integration. FordPass can be used to navigate your off-road adventures with over 1,000 trail maps available—on and off the grid.

Trim Levels

The 2021 Ford Bronco will be available in six versions in addition to a limited edition model. And the trim levels have names that nod to the great outdoors, including Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Wildtrak, Badlands, and First Edition (limited edition).

Base

The base model comes with the 2.3-liter turbo EcoBoost four-cylinder engine we mentioned earlier, a part-time 4x4 system, an electronic terrain management system with five drive modes, and a seven-speed manual transmission with crawler gear.

The base also features 16-inch painted steel wheels and 30-inch all-season tires, carpeted floors, cloth seats, and the 8-inch touchscreen display. The base is a great starting point for anyone wishing to deck out their new Bronco with aftermarket parts. Available options include an upgrade to the 2.7-liter twin-turbo engine, 10-speed automatic transmission, an advanced 4x4 system, and the Sasquatch Package.

Sasquatch Package

The Sasquatch Package is a stand-alone option available on every Bronco trim. It includes all top equipment needed for an enjoyable off-road drive. These features include:

 17-inch aluminum beadlock-capable wheels

 35-inch mud-terrain tires

Electronic locking front and rear differentials

 High clearance suspension and fenders

 4.71:1 final drive ratio

 Bilstein shock absorbers

Leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel

 Tinted privacy glass

 Rubberized flooring

 Powder-coated steel bumpers

 Seven G.O.A.T. modes

 32-inch all-terrain tires

The package options are the same as the Big Bend trim—only the Mid and Sasquatch packages are available as upgrades.

The Outer Banks is arguably the fanciest trim level Ford offers on the 2021 Bronco. It builds on the previous model, adding:

 18-inch black alloy wheels

 32-inch all-terrain tires

 L.E.D. headlamps and taillamps

Body-color door handles, mirror caps, and fender flares

 Powder-coated tube steps

Heated front seats with cloth buckets

The Mid package is standard on the Outer Banks package, but additional options include leather interior and upgrades to the High and Lux packages.

Wildtrak

The Ford Bronco Wildtrak is the dessert runner model. It includes all of the equipment and features found on the Outer Banks trim but adds:

 Standard Mid and Sasquatch Packages

 2.7-liter V-6

Seven G.O.A.T. modes with Baja high-speed desert overland mode

 Black-painted modular hardtop

 Wildtrak hood graphic

 Carpeted floors

Additional options for the Wildtrak include leather interior and upgrading to the High and Lux packages.

Badlands

Who doesn't want an off-roading vehicle named after the Badlands?

The Badlands is the cream of the crop when it comes to off-roading capability. Building off of the Big Bend model, the Badlands gets:

 17-inch wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires

Badlands-specific suspension with electro-hydraulic front stabilizer bar disconnect

Marine-grade vinyl upholstery with rubberized washout flooring

Modular front and powder-coated rear bumpers

Those after the Badlands model can add leather seats and your choice of all available packages.

First Edition

Ford is only building 3,500 models of the First Edition Bronco, and all of them have already been reserved online. The First Edition comes with everything - all of the Badlands features added to the Lux and Sasquatch packages. It has unique First Edition hood and body-side graphics, carpeted floors, a safari bar on the front bumper, a modular black hardtop, and a leather-trimmed interior with heated front seats.
