The All New 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning

The Ford F-150 Lightning follows Ford’s re-imagining of classics they produced, like the 2021 Ford Bronco. The Lightning was the high-performance model of the F-150 in the 1990s. But the only thing from the past in this truck is its nostalgic name.

Standard Across All Trim Levels
All-wheel drive is standard on all trims. All buyers receive an 80-amp charge station for home charging. One hour of charge gives the driver 30 miles and for the full mileage range, an 8-hour charge is required.

Ford has the largest charging network in the country with over 63,000 plugs. A fast charger, 150-kWh, bumps the charge percentage from 15 to 80 in 40 min. Unlike its gas-powered counterparts, under the hood of all Ford F-150 Lightning trim levels, you'll find a 14.1 cubic feet frunk that is the largest available among all trucks! It carries 400 lbs which, according to Ford, is the equivalent of three travel bags, or two carry-ons and two sets of golf clubs. They’re water-resistant with a drainable floor for easy clean-up after a job, camping trip, or having fun on the trails.

The electrical outlets and USB chargers provided in the frunk can provide power to various daily items like phones, laptops, power tools, and even TVs! You can also power your home during emergencies with this truck. The optional Ford Intelligent Backup Power provides 9.6-kW that can power a home during emergencies. LED headlights and taillights, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility come standard as well. All trims also qualify for the full $7,500 Federal and State tax incentives for being fully electric vehicles where it's applicable.

Pro
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro is the base trim level of this series. Don’t let the base title fool you as it comes packed with technology and power. It has built-in outlets to power tools, appliances, and electronics on a Jobsite, camping trip, or even at home during emergencies. It will also feature 2.4 kilowatts of power, which is upgradeable for more. Inside, the Pro trim comes with a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The durable vinyl seats make even the toughest conditions outside, super comfortable, and cleaning up is easy.          

XLT
The XLT trim level is called the mid-series by Ford and is a step up from the Pro. It offers the same Standard Range battery that comes in the Pro. It offers a range of 230 miles and dual-electric motors that puts out 426 horsepower and the same lb-ft of torque. This battery can be upgraded to the extended-range model that offers a 300-mile range as well as 563 horsepower.

Its exterior comes standard with 18-inch aluminum wheels with black accents. This can be upgraded to 20-inch wheels that feature dark grey accents instead. The heavy-duty Class IV tow hitch also comes standard in the XLT trim as well as the power hood and lifting tailgate. The grille has a showstopping signature front lighting LED bar.

Exterior upgrades include LED lighting in the truck bed and a full power tailgate that assists with lifting, and opening. An optional Tow Technology package comes with some powerful technology like trailer backup assist and the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 package that includes adaptive cruise control, lane-centering, and built-in navigation.

Lariat
The Lariat trim starts the luxury truck line of the F-150 series with the Lightning as well. It includes the same Standard Range Battery in the XLT, with the Extended Range as an optional upgrade. It comes standard with 20-inch Carbonized wheels with grey accents. The standard running boards become retractable on the Lariat trim.

The LED lighting in the bed is standard as is the fully powered tailgate and frunk. The upgraded tech package comes standard with lane-centering, adaptive cruise control, and rain-sensing wipers. Your phone can also be used as the key. Inside, heated and cooled leather seats are standard for added comfort. The infotainment system gets an upgrade as a 15.5-inch vertical touchscreen where you can listen to music on an 8 speaker sound system by Bang & Olufsen. Ford's autonomous driving system, BlueCruise, and active park assist are available as upgrades on the Lariat as well as the two different tow packages.

Platinum
The F-150 Lightning Platinum trim is the top trim line available. It comes with the Extended Range battery and the 563-horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque come standard. The 22-inch aluminum wheels with black accents are the largest available.

The Nirvana leather seats are softer and feature a massage function and the Bang & Olufsen sound system has a total of 18 speakers and a subwoofer. All of this along with a twin-panel moonroof give the Ford F-150 Platinum the most luxurious trim level. Both tow packages are standard as is Ford's BlueCruise.
