What's New in 2021?

Everything. Creating an all-electric crossover is uncharted territory for Ford. The vehicle is designed and named after the company's legendary pony car, and its name serves as a tribute to the Mach 1 moniker of classic Mustangs. Ford created Mach-E to compete with Tesla and usher in a new era of electric vehicles, and so far, it's a smash hit.

Engine and Performance

The new 2021 Mustang Mach-E comes with a standard-range battery or an extended-range pack. Each feeds an electric motor that's mounted on both axels or the rear of the vehicle. The motor mounted on both axles offers an all-wheel-drive. On the sportier GT and GT performance trims, these motors combine to provide 480 horsepower and up to 634 pound-feet of torque. This power sends the Mach-E from zero to 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds. Lower models create 255 and 332 horsepower and between 306 and 416 pound-feet of torque. The Mach-E is more fun to drive than most crossovers, yet it simultaneously offers a super-smooth, quiet ride. 

Range and Battery Life

The Mach-E has an estimated range of 210 to 300 miles. The actual range depends on the type of electric motor and battery pack. Every trim level has fast-charging capability. The mobile charger that comes with the Mach-E adds up to 30 miles of range overnight with a 120-volt outlet. A 240-volt outlet charges up to 80% of battery life overnight. You can even have certified electricians install a Ford charging station, which replenishes 32 miles per hour—fully recharging the battery overnight. 

The top trim level with the extended range battery and rear-wheel drive gets an estimated range of 300 miles, while the all-wheel-drive model can go 210 miles. Depending on the model and installed equipment, there are a wide variety of possible ranges. 

Interior Quality and Cargo Space

Don't worry about the Mach-E's battery getting in the way. It's stored under the floor of the vehicle to maximize available cargo space. The Mustang Mach-E's dashboard is streamlined with an attractive gauge cluster, and a massive vertically mounted touchscreen. You can easily store a purse or other items on the center console thanks to its floating, flip-up armrest. The crossover offers 29 cubic feet of cargo space—60 cubic feet when the back seats are folded. Other features include the ambient interior lighting, a heated steering wheel and front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and more. You can rinse and drain the front truck, which allows for easily storing ice or other messy things.

•    Premium

There’s a Mustang Mach-E to meet every budget and driving need. The new 2021 Mustang Mach-E is highly customizable, so it's easy to build your dream electric crossover if desired. Let's break down each available trim level in detail. 

Select

The base Mach-E is the Select trim level, which comes standard with rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available as an upgrade. The standard model's only battery option is the "standard range" one, which includes a 75.7-kW-hr battery pack, delivering 230 miles of range in the rear-drive model. The all-wheel-drive model offers 210 miles of driving range. 

Premium

Next up is the Premium Mach-E, which also comes standard with rear-wheel drive. You can also add all-wheel drive to this model. The 98.8-kW-hr "extended range" battery is an available upgrade. With this battery, the horsepower increases to 282 in rear-wheel drive and 332 in the all-wheel-drive. The Premium models deliver an estimated 230 miles of range in rear-wheel drive and 210 miles in all-wheel drive (same as the Select). Adding the extended-range battery increases these to 270 and 300 miles. 

GT

With the GT model, you get 459 horsepower and 612 pound-feet of torque. Also standard is all-wheel drive and the 98.8-kW-hr extended-range battery. The available GT Performance package decreases the 0-60-mph acceleration time down to 3.5 seconds. This model's driving range is approximately 250 miles.  

California Route 1

The California Route 1 model maxes out the Mach-E with rear-wheel drive and the extended-range battery pack. It also adds exclusive aerodynamic wheel covers. It's built off the Premium trim level but doesn't include heated front seats, the Bang & Olufsen sound system, and a hands-free liftgate. 

First Edition

The First Edition is priced just under the GT model. This is a special-edition model to celebrate Ford's launch of its all-electric crossover. The First Edition features the Premium trim level's extended-range battery and all-wheel drive. It generates 332 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque and offers an estimated 270 miles of driving range. It also features special First Edition styling, red-painted brake calipers, 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and heated front and rear seats.
