Every 2022 Cherokee features an 8.4-inch touchscreen and SiriusXM satellite radio for entertainment. This replaces the previously standard 7.0-inch unit.

The Latitude Lux trim also introduces new standard features, including a 7.0-inch gauge-cluster display, a 115-volt power outlet, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more.

There’s up to 54.7 cubic feet of space to fit all your gear once the seats are folded up. There’s 25.8 cubic feet when the seats are up.

The Jeep Cherokee has remarkable towing capacity. It can haul more than its competitors' thanks to its 4,500-pound-max towing capacity.

Engine and transmission

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee has the standard 270-hp 3.2-liter V-6 engine. The torquier turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is optional. Both engines team with a nine-speed automatic transmission and front or all-wheel drive. The turbo engine is sadly reported to be lackluster compared with the V-6, thanks to its dull responses to throttle inputs.

The four-cylinder Cherokee also has less towing capacity at 4,000 pounds maximum, compared to the V-6 Cherokee’s towing capacity of 4,500 pounds.

The Cherokee drives with robustness and firmness, making it feel bigger than many competitors. As you navigate the Jeep Cherokee, you’ll find that impacts are absorbed without much extra reverberation, and the vehicle never feels floaty when cruising down the highway. The steering is nicely weighted and accurate. The vehicle’s 70-mph-to-zero emergency-braking performance comes out as average for its class.

Speed and performance

The 2.0-liter turbo-4 can engine that can speed 7.0 seconds in a 0-60 mph sprint. Meanwhile, the 3.2 liter V-6 is a second or so slower.

The turbo-4 delivers 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque and is very efficient. It’s excellent in every way except one: it’s only available with the Limited and Latitude Lux configurations.

The standard V-6 engine provides 271 hp and 239 lb-ft with decent power. If you enjoy the odd off-road weekend adventures, you may prefer the extra torque of the turbo-4. However, the V-6 is the only option for Trailhawk and X trims.

All of the 2022 Jeep Cherokee trims come with Jeep’s all-wheel drive system, apart from the Latitude Lux. The improved system on Trailhawk configurations introduce a low range gear and a mechanical locking rear differential for enhanced grip at low speeds. It also features a neutral mode the allows flat towing behind an RV.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee’s available Uconnect infotainment technolgy system is high-class, with plenty of features and easy-to-use, organized menus. The standard touchscreen is 8-4 inches. Starting on the Latitude Plus configuration, every trim adds two USB ports on the back of the center console for passengers in the rear seats.
